Perth County ― World Breastfeeding Week is being celebrated across Canada from October 1 – 7, 2019. To celebrate in Perth County, a new breastfeeding support program is coming to Mitchell.
Breastfeeding Buddies is a drop-in program for moms and babies to receive support, encouragement, and links to community breastfeeding and parenting resources. The new program starts in Mitchell on Friday, October 11, 2019, from 11am-12 noon. The program will run every second Friday of the month at the West Perth EarlyON Centre (Perth Care for Kids) at 177 Frances Street, Mitchell. Toddlers are welcome.

- First Thursday of each month, 1-2pm

Breastfeeding Buddies – North Perth
- Last Wednesday of the month, 10-11am
- North Perth EarlyON Playroom, 955 Binning St. W., Listowel
Moms with new babies can also join the online Breastfeeding Buddies Facebook group to connect with other breastfeeding moms and peer leaders. Go to www.facebook.com and search “Breastfeeding Buddies Perth County” and request to join the group.
“Research shows that mothers are more successful at breastfeeding and do it for longer when they have better access to local supports and information,” says Heather Kane, Public Health Nurse. “These support programs are tools that help moms to successfully breastfeed.
